Mary Vasaly to Present on Judicial Selection to Minneapolis Rotary Club
The Rotary Club was founded in 1905 by a Chicago lawyer, Paul Harris, who felt alone and disconnected in a big city. His group of business people rotated meeting sites among members' offices and also rotated the chairman of each meeting - thus "Rotary." Today, there are more than one million members of Rotary and more than 31,000 clubs in 167 nations - the world's largest continuous community service organization. Mary Vasaly has been a lawyer for 25 years and practices in the areas of appeals, probate/trust litigation and commercial litigation. She tries cases and argues appeals in the state and federal courts of Minnesota as well as other states. Mary has also appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court. She edited the Eighth Circuit Appellate Practice Manual, now in its third edition, among other books and articles and has taught appellate practice at the University of St. Thomas Law School and the University of Minnesota Law School. Mary has served as the Chair of the ABA TIPS Appellate Advocacy Committee and of the Council of Appellate Lawyers. Mary is a 1983 cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. |
