Maslon co-sponsors Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services 2007 Senior Legal Fair - Attorneys Larry Koch and Matthew Shea Present

Maslon attorneys Larry Koch and Matthew Shea presented sessions on Powers of Attorney and Health Care Directives at the Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services 2007 Senior Legal Fair on October 17, 2007. The event was organized to serve economically disadvantaged seniors by offering them free community legal education on relevant topics from volunteer attorneys. Maslon and other law firms and businesses including 3M co-sponsored the event as part of its ongoing pro bono efforts to provide legal services to low income individuals.

Maslon Pro Bono Director Dana Bartocci helped organize the event. Presentations topics included health care directives, wills, grandparent rights, identity theft, fraud and scams, and tenant rights/public housing and one-on-one advice clinics where seniors will meet with a volunteer attorney for approximately 15 minutes, including clinics on predatory lending.

Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, through a diverse, respectful and fair working environment, and legal assistance and community education activities, works to promote and respect the dignity of low-income persons and seeks new and effective solutions to the critical and common legal problems of low-income persons which arise in a broad community context.
