The article advises Minnesota cabin owners on how to avoid potential issues down the road when the family-cabin may change hands.

Link recommends three key ways to ways to approach the issue:

  • If leaving the cabin to more than one heir, always name an executor;

  • Consider setting up a family trust to avoid complications that may occur in the case of divorce; and

  • Consider forming a cabin limited liability company (LLC) or a cabin limited liability partnership (LLP) to protect the property from issues of liability or divorce.
